When Music Brings People Together: A 50th Anniversary Filled with Emotion
Lamèque, August 2, 2026 – The 50th edition of the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival came to a memorable close after three days of music, discovery, and meaningful connections. Close to 2 000 people took part in the Festival's concerts and activities, celebrating half a century of passion for Baroque music.
Brought to life by the remarkable talent of the Festival's guest artists, the performances transported audiences into the captivating world of Baroque music. Throughout the Festival, attentive listening, smiles, and warm applause reflected the shared enjoyment of both performers and festivalgoers.
In numbers, this 50th edition featured 8 concerts, about fifty artists, 20 volunteers, and 50 sponsors and partners. Beyond these figures, what truly stood out was an entire community coming together to celebrate 50 years of music, heritage, and shared experiences.
"I am immensely proud of our 50th edition! With inspired artists, the music of the greatest Baroque composers, and an enthusiastic and generous audience, our celebration was truly magnificent. I look to the future with optimism, more convinced than ever of the importance of our Festival—not only for our community, but also for the world of early music.", Vincent Lauzer, artistic director.
"It would have been hard to ask for a better first term as President of this wonderful festival. A fantastic audience, extraordinary artists, a dedicated team and volunteers, and a community that truly embraced the event. I think it's safe to say that this 50th edition will go down in history. It was a tremendous success! I can't wait to get back to work preparing for the next edition, which will take place on July 29, 30 and 31, 2027.", Martine Thériault, chairwoman.
The Festival team extends its heartfelt thanks to the artists, volunteers, partners, sponsors, donors, and everyone who contributed to the success of this anniversary edition. Special thanks also go to the audience, whose enthusiasm and support give true meaning to this extraordinary musical journey.
The 50th Anniversary Celebrations Continue
Although the concerts have ended, the celebrations continue. The Festival wishes to recognize the exceptional commitment of its volunteers—past and present—who have been at the heart of its history and success for the past 50 years.
All former and current volunteers are invited to a Volunteer Appreciation Evening on September 19. To reserve a place or obtain more information, volunteers may contact the Festival at baroque@iledelameque.ca or 506-344-3261. This event is proudly sponsored by Scotts Canada.
